Transfigured Celestial (2005)
Instrumentation: orchestra Length: 10:00 Premiere: March 2, 2005 Carnegie Music Hall. Pittsburgh, PA Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic; Efraín Amaya, conductor Audio: Live Recording 3-2-05 Performers same as above Program Note: Transfigured Celestial was written for my senior project as an undergrad at Carnegie Mellon University. This piece was an attempt to try on the 'costume' of traditional classical form and development to see if it could fit with my aesthetic as a composer. Often my music leans toward a more schizophrenic approach, which in this piece I attempted to focus into a single big contrast between the quiet material of the beginning and end and the more loud, rambunctious material in between. |
