Athens, OH      Joey VanHassel, Kristin Agee, percussionists Program Note: Trudge Blasted Exotic was commissioned by my brother Joey VanHassel and Kristin Agee for performance at his senior percussion recital at Ohio University in 2006. The piece is for two setups of a wide variety of small non-pitched percussion instruments. I thought of these setups basically as extended versions of a rock drumset. The performers then are playing what could be thought of as a somewhat quirky rock 'drum solo' (for two!) utilizing a rather atypical sound palette.
